Hand carved small Cherry spoon
- In stock, ready to ship
- Inventory on the way
This spoon has been hand carved from a cherry tree that someone had cut down in their garden and was offering for fire wood so Amy snapped it up and made these for us!
A hand carved, unique small spoon that’s totally versatile, use it for anything, but I like it for my yoghurt and puddings too. The spoon’s shallow enough to ensure a mouthful, but not too big a one! Perfect for children and a lovely ‘special spoon’ for them to treasure.
A limited edition of just 10 have been made exclusively for Hive & Keeper
DESCRIPTION
Every piece has been hand carved, with how Amy carves it out of the wood adjusted every time as she works with the wood's natural character and strength. The cherry wood has a distinctive stripy character, with some of the wood darker than other parts of the tree.
The finishing touch is the yellow painted band, showing off the wood perfectly and making them a very special limited edition.
17.5 cms long
PROVENANCE
These have been carved from British cherry by Amy, a green woodworker, who is based in Sussex and has hand carved them for us in her workshop.
Green woodworking is using wood which still has moisture in with hand tools. It’s much easier on the hands than seasoned wood and means Amy can source wood directly from tree surgeons, woodland management etc and process it herself rather than have to buy pre-cut and dried selections from a sawmill.
SUSTAINABILITY
These have been carved from cherry, collected from a back garden.
These are wooden products and so can go back to the Earth once their useful life is over, leaving no footprint or sign they were ever here. From tree to dust..
FOR CARE
Amy recommends hand washing and storing in a ventilated place. They can be occasionally reoiled if wished with flaxseed, hemp, walnut or grapeseed oil (over the whole thing).
